Buying Glyco-Flex III Stage III, 120-Chew Tabs

I have a 120 pound Malamute, 8 years old. Had occasional limping problems.

We had him on Trader Joe's glucosamine tablets for dogs, but ran out while he was staying at the kennel. Our fault. But his limp was hugely noticeable when we returned from our trip and picked him up from the kennel - which caused us to freak out and buy the hugely popular Glyco-Flex III Stage III. We thought that giving him something super powerful would be better for him.

The package says that it should start working 4-6 weeks. We gave him the recommended dose according to his size. After the 2nd week he got worse. 3rd week he was lame a couple of days. He went into the lake as he usually does but could not pull himself out. We freaked some more but thought that he just needed to get the glyco flex in his system properly to work. But on the exact day that marked week 4, we gave up. He was worse off than when he was not taking anything.

We put him back on the trader joe's glucosamine, and he's gotten muuuuch better. In fact, we gave him a big dose to help offset the Glyco-Flex damage, and he no longer limps. It took about a week when he started playing and jumping and chasing the ball. He had not done that in quite some time.

I don't doubt at all that Glyco-Flex helps other dogs. But for my dog in particular, it was killing him. Thank god we had the sense to not make him go through week 5 and 6 of torture.
