Our vet recommended that we give our kitty, now two years old, Gyco-Flex chews to help ward off problems later on. She was a feral kitten and we found her when she was approximately five weeks old. She had a compound break in her right rear leg. How it happened, we have no idea. But her little leg was surgically repaired and she runs and jumps with no problems. That leg is always going to have an odd angle to it, and as Willow grows older that leg will probably be prone to arthritis. We give her a chew once every day as a sort of prevention. Fortunately she likes the chews and thinks that they are a treat. The only thing that we don't like about them is that they really aren't soft. Willow can't chew a whole one and so we have to cut it into quarters for her.
